The CMPA and the High Commission of Canada in the United Kingdom are partnering to offer Canadian companies the opportunity to gain foreign market insight through presentation and roundtables, as well as the opportunity to expand their professional networks and explore co-production opportunities through a series of 1:1 meetings. The agenda features topics ranging from acquisition trends to creating a successful international publicity campaign to regional opportunities in both Canada and the UK.

2.   Canada-UK Market Overview (30 minutes)

Speakers: Rod Butler, VP, Content & Regulatory, Canada Media Fund; John McVay, Chief Executive, PACT

Moderator: Sarolta Csete, Director, Mentorship & International Development, CMPA

Rod Butler, VP, Content & Regulatory at the Canada Media Fund and John McVay, Chief Executive at PACT, will discuss the market realities for companies creating and selling content in Canada, UK and beyond. 

3.   Sales & Acquisitions Trends Panel (45 minutes)

Moderator: Erin Creasey, Director, Industry Development, Ontario Creates

Erin Creasey, Director, Industry Development, Ontario Creates, will speak with Lilla Hurts, Global Head of Acquisitions & Content Strategy, Blue Ant Studios and Richard Life, VP, Acquisitions & Co-Productions, Cineflix Rights about the latest trends in buying and selling content globally.

4.   Connecting the dots: how to use PR to fast-track your production goals (30 minutes)

Speakers: Holly Miller, Co-Founder/Account Director, and Phoebe Brown, Account Manager, Percy & Warren; Shant Joshi, President, Fae Pictures

Moderator: Andrew Addison, VP, Communications, Marketing and Membership, CMPA

Percy & Warren, award-winning international film and TV PR agency, and Fae Pictures, award-winning film & TV production company, will chat any and all things PR, using Fae Pictures’ PR campaign for ‘Streams Flow From A River’. They discuss how to use PR as a tool to raise the profile of your business and slate of content, increase publicity for your spokespeople and leverage talent from your IP, and use strategic PR to help reach external business partners such as distributors, sales agents and co-producers. 

5.   Regional Focus: Newfoundland & Labrador and Northern Ireland  (25 minutes)

Speakers: Laura Churchill, CEO, Picture NL; Nicola Lyons, Head of Production, Northern Ireland Screen

Moderator: Allison Goodings, Trade Commissioner, High Commission of Canada in the UK

This conversational session will highlight the incentives and requirements when working with producers from Newfoundland and Labrador and Northern Ireland, providing participants with a practical guide to co-production.
