TORONTO, August 10, 2026 — Today, the Canadian Media Producers Association (CMPA) unveiled the nominees for the 2026 CMPA Indiescreen Awards. The awards celebrate excellence among Canada’s independent television and feature film producers, recognizing those whose vision and entrepreneurship demonstrate a passion for producing Canadian feature films and television series. The 2026 CMPA Indiescreen Award nominees are:

Feature Film Producer Indiescreen Award

Presented in partnership with Telefilm Canada, this award celebrates a producer’s filmmaking accomplishments over the course of their career and includes a $20,000 prize.

The 2026 Feature Film Producer Indiescreen Award nominees are:

• Alfons Adetuyi (Inner City Films) – Dreams of the Moon

TV Producer Indiescreen Award

Presented in partnership with the Canada Media Fund, this award celebrates the achievements of an independent Canadian television media production company and includes a $20,000 prize.

The 2026 TV Producer Indiescreen Award nominees are:

The Kevin Tierney Emerging Producer Indiescreen Award

This award recognizes the impressive potential of an up-and-coming producer and includes a $10,000 prize.

The 2026 Kevin Tierney Emerging Producer Indiescreen Award nominees are:

• Anthony Cauchy (Locomotive Media) – Surf Bay, côte Ouest (series)
• Jordan Hayes (Little Mama Media) – I Come Home (feature film)
• Julian Geneen (Grand Touring Productions Inc.) – Crash Land (feature film)
• Natalie Remplakowski (Citrine Productions) – Seahorse (feature film)
• Scott Anthony Cavalheiro, Claire Cavalheiro (Stained Tie Films) – Plan C (feature film)

“This year’s impressive list of nominees again illustrates that Canadian producers are among the best in the world,” said Andrew Addison, Senior Vice-President, Strategic Communications & Member Engagement. “It has been an exceptional year for Canadian independent television and feature film, and we’re thrilled to recognize these talented producers and their efforts to bring Canadian stories to life on screen.”

The winners will be announced at the 2026 CMPA Indiescreen Awards ceremony on the afternoon of Thursday, September 10, as part of the Toronto International Film Festival. The event will take place at the Sutton Place Hotel in Toronto.

“Last year’s ceremony was one for the books, so we’re thrilled to bring that same energy back to the heart of TIFF and celebrate the producers who move the Canadian industry forward,” added Addison.

To be eligible for the Indiescreen Awards, nominees must have acted as a producer on a Canadian feature film or series that premiered or had episodes air in 2026. The nominees and winners of the Indiescreen Awards are selected by national juries, each consisting of three industry leaders.

ABOUT THE CMPA INDIESCREEN AWARDS

Established in 2006, the CMPA Indiescreen Awards recognize producers whose vision and entrepreneurship demonstrate a commitment to and passion for producing Canadian feature films and television series.

Awards are presented in three categories. The Feature Film Producer Indiescreen Award recognizes a producer’s filmmaking accomplishments and contributions to Canada’s film production community over the course of their career. The TV Producer Indiescreen Award, introduced in 2025, celebrates the achievements of a Canadian independent media production company focused on television production. The Kevin Tierney Emerging Producer Indiescreen Award, established in 2016, named after the late Kevin Tierney, a dedicated mentor and champion of emerging talent, recognizes the extraordinary talents of an up-and-coming producer with a bright career ahead.
