TORONTO, December 13, 2023 — The Canadian Media Producers Association (CMPA) announced today the promotion of Nicole Cheng to the position of Vice-President, Finance and Facilities for the organization. In this role, Nicole will be a key member of the CMPA senior leadership team, responsible for leading and managing the finance and facility team and functions for the CMPA. The promotion follows the upcoming retirement of the CMPA’s Chief Financial Officer Rob Searle.

“Since joining the CMPA, Nicole has demonstrated deep financial knowledge, a collaborative style, and great understanding of the CMPA’s corporate needs,” said Reynolds Mastin, President and CEO, CMPA. “Nicole is an excellent addition to the CMPA’s leadership team and a great successor to Rob as he begins this well-deserved next chapter.”

“Rob Searle’s steady hand deftly guided the association’s finances for more than six years, which was particularly welcome during the upheaval of the pandemic,” added Mastin. “I want to thank Rob for his dedication to the CMPA and to our members, and wish him all the best on his upcoming retirement.”

Cheng joined the CMPA as the association’s Controller in 2018. Prior she held progressively senior roles for Newfound Resources, the Dental Corporation of Canada, and Landmark Home Solutions. She also previously ran her own accounting and tax services company. Nicole Cheng is a CPA, CGA, and holds a Master of Accountancy degree from Brock University.
