About us

Karen Wentzell is a Halifax-based Producer and owner of Waterstar Entertainment. Her focus is on scripted comedy and female-driven drama. She is EP of seasons 2, 3 and 4 of
CBC’s Diggstown. Diggstown is nominated yearly for multiple CSA's. She recently completed production as EP on a the feature film The Madones written and directed by Barrie Dunn. She also partnered with Force Four Entertainment to Executive Produce the critically acclaimed City-tv comedy series Seed. Seed received eight CSA nominations in 2014, including best comedy, and five CSA nominations in 2015, also for best comedy. Karen is also well known for her work as producer of the successful hit television series Trailer Park Boys. Trailer Park Boys won the 2004 Gemini Award for best comedy series and is widely considered a show that changed the landscape of Canadian television. Wentzell joined Trailer Park Boys in Season 2, helping to guide it through every special, season series, and the first two features. Karen also produced the 2007 Trailer Park Boys tv special "Say Goodnight to the Bad Guys". Additionally, she produced and co-wrote the documentary Hearts of Dartmouth, a behind the scenes look at Trailer Park Boys. Before joining the Trailer Park Boys team, Karen spent 10 years as a network producer in Sports and Entertainment with CBC Newsworld in Halifax. She is a board member and past Vice-Chair of Nova Scotia's film commission, Screen Nova Scotia. She is also Chair of the N.S. Producer Committee.
