Gearshift Films Inc.

About us

Gearshift Films was founded in 2009 by award-winning filmmakers Jordan Barker and Borga Dorter. The Toronto-based company's goal is to produce films and television projects with a universal appeal and high entertainment value across a wide spectrum of genres.

Gearshift’s latest co-production THE WAITING ROOM by Igor Drljaca had its world premiere in competition in the Cineasti del Presente section of the 68th edition of Locarno Film Festival, followed by its North American premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2015. Other festival screenings include Torino (competition), Rottedam and Beijing.

Gearshift Films also recently wrapped production on the family adventure film LOST AND FOUND starring Jason Patric (Lost Boys, Speed 2) and Cary Elwes (The Princess Bride), which has been picked up by Voltage Pictures for international sales.

Gearshift’s sophomore feature TORMENT, Jordan Barker’s home invasion thriller starring Katharine Isabelle (American Mary, Ginger Snaps) and Robin Dunne (Syfy’s Sanctuary), was released theatrically in the US by Vertical Entertainment and in Canada by Entertainment One and has been sold to more than twenty territories by Filmax International.

Gearshift’s first feature was HOME SWEET HOME, a Canada/France co-venture helmed by acclaimed French genre director David Morley (Mutants), which was acquired by Screen Media Ventures for North American distribution.
