About us

From the Pentagon to the Shaolin temple and many places in between, Zoot Pictures has pursued a commitment to telling stories that illuminate the world in new and interesting ways.

Over its 25-year history, Zoot Pictures has produced a range of award-winning one-off documentaries, feature documentaries, limited and returning series in a variety of genres, from social-political, science, environmental and cultural documentary, lifestyle programs and drama for the web. Principals Leslea Mair and Leif Kaldor have fostered a collaborative approach on projects that are focused on entertainment and making the world a smarter place.

Our recent projects: 2019 saw the release of “Something in the Air”, on air pollution for The Nature of Things, and short form science fiction series “Nikola Tesla and the End of the World”. In 2021, Zoot Pictures released feature documentary “Building Bastille” and in early 2022, “Fall of the Maya Kings” for PBS NOVA and ARTE France. We are currently in production of an animated preschool series for APTN.

Zoot Pictures’ current development slate includes feature documentaries, an archeological myth-busting series, and a science fiction animated series for children.
