Next Move Studios is operated by Ronald Lee, a Chinese-Canadian director, producer, and writer based in Vancouver, who returned to filmmaking at the start of 2023. Since then, he has been producing short-form scripted projects with the aim to produce feature films and episodic programming. He has just finished producing a micro-budget 100-minute vertical mini-series.

He sees the Asian Pacific Rim (China, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, ASEAN) as significant co-production and export partners for Canadian filmmakers. He attended the Filmart in Hong Kong this year, with plans to attend the Japan and Taiwan film markets later this year, and more international markets in 2025.

Next Move Studios is interested in working with like-minded Canadian producers and distributors who also wish to co-produce/co-venture with Asia.
