About us
Formed in 2005 by April Mullen and Tim Doiron, with offices in Los Angeles and Toronto, Wango Films is a full-service production company, founded on a blend of grassroots innovation and bold creativity. Producing partner James van der Woerd joined the team in 2011. The well-seasoned and highly successful Wango team is focused on elevated genre films with compelling characters from unique voices.
Wango specializes in fostering a project from concept to delivery, working alongside their filmmakers every step of the way. The company is focused on building projects that are both auteur driven and commercially viable, priding themselves on the casting, financing and marketing of all their projects. Wango creates feature films that champion their filmmaker’s voices and are enjoyed by the widest audiences possible around the globe.
Recent feature films include WANDER (2020) starring Aaron Eckhart, Katheryn Winnick, Heather Graham and Tommy Lee Jones; the sci fi/comedy, RELAX, I’M FROM THE FUTURE (2023) starring Rhys Darby, which premiered at Fantasia and was awarded BEST FEATURE and BEST ACTRESS at the Blood In the Snow Film Festival; and SIMULANT (Formally titled HELLO STRANGER) (2023) starring Simu Liu, Sam Worthington, Jordana Brewster and Robbie Amell, which will be released theatrically by Mongrel and Vertical Summer 2023.
