Founded in 2012 in Montreal by Julie Groleau, Patrice Laliberté, and Guillaume Laurin, Couronne Nord is a multidisciplinary production company committed to bold and original storytelling with a distinctive perspective. The company first drew attention with award-winning shorts such as Viaduc (Best Canadian Short – TIFF 2015), Opération Carcajou and Landgraves, as well as the web series Game(r), broadcast live on Facebook and viewed over 2 million times. In 2020, the company made history with The Decline (Jusqu’au déclin, Patrice Laliberté), the first Canadian Netflix Original. Viewed over 70 million times, it reached Top 10 rankings in several countries and earned eight nominations at Gala Québec Cinéma and one at the CMPA Indiescreen Awards. In 2022, Couronne Nord released Very Nice Day, the first Quebec feature shot entirely on a cellphone, screened in festivals in Europe and the U.S. The company is currently developing new feature films, TV series and international co-productions. For over 12 years, Couronne Nord has embodied the creativity and daring of Quebec cinema, telling powerful stories that resonate locally and globally.
