About us

Minifie is a media maven and strategist based in Vancouver, BC. She is the CEO of Stories First Productions. Leena specialized in Indigenous Studies and New Media at the Institute of American Indian Arts. She has worked as a journalist and is a co-founder of Ricochet.Media. Additionally, she has produced media projects including film and television series, documentaries, webinars, radio broadcast, culture retention projects and news sites. Recent and notable projects include the award-winning feature and five-part series, Bones of Crows (CBC, APTN), the four-part doc series, British Columbia – An Untold History (Knowledge), a CBC 5th Estate, The Reckoning: Secrets Unearthed by Tk'emlúps te Secwépemc, an investigative 1-hour television special, the short doc Lily Gladstone: Far Out There (PBS American Masters), the interactive audiovisual web-project Sense of Home (Best New Media, ImagineNative 2012), and ?E?anx ‘The Cave’ (Sundance Festival 2011, TIFF Top Ten 2011). Impact and marketing campaigns include the #Next150 campaign for the film Indian Horse, The Grizzlies, Monkey Beach (theatrical launch), The New Corporation, Run Woman Run, Tautuktavuk & Cafe Daughter. Leena was a fellow with BANFF Spark Accelerator for Women in the business of media program 2019 and the inaugural Bell Reelworld Producer’s Program for Scripted Projects 2021 and Netflix Diversity of Voices 2022.
