Scarborough Pictures is a Toronto based production company that makes powerful, vibrant content across film, television, and digital platforms. Our work explores complex themes through warmth, humour, and artistry. We often tell stories that expose injustice, connect histories, and build community. We are dedicated to storytelling that amplifies underrepresented voices and builds new audiences through award-winning scripted and documentary work. Our debut feature The Secret Trial 5 (2014), received multiple awards at Hot Docs, and the Magnus Isacsson Award at RIDM in Montreal. It was recently named one of the Top 10 Canadian Documentaries of the Decade by Realscreen Magazine. Since then, Scarborough Pictures has produced numerous award-winning works with the NFB, Bravo, CBC, and Shopify Studios. Our latest series, the anthology comedy Next Stop, premiered its second season on CBC Gem in fall 2021, leading to our first CSA nomination. Scarborough Pictures is an advocate of BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Colour) talent. In 2019, we launched a mentorship program for BIPOC filmmakers in partnership with the CBC. This program continues on all our productions including Next Stop, with our emerging writing and directing teams receiving mentorship from industry veterans. We pride ourselves on being an access point for underrepresented artists looking to break into the industry.
