About us
Executive Producer Edward Kay originally established Toronto-based Ernest Scribbler Productions Inc. in 2005 as a loan-out company for his work as a writer, showrunner and show creator, on original animated and live-action kids' series such as Jimmy Two Shoes (Breakthrough Entertainment), Finding Stuff Out (Apartment 11 Productions) and What the Stink? (Shaftesbury Films). More recently, the company is focusing on developing scripted kids', youth and prime-time projects with other Canadian and international creatives who bring original, diverse and appealing voices to storytelling, as well as collaborating with other production companies that share that vision. Edward is a veteran of the Canadian television industry, having begun his career as a staff writer and producer on This Hour Has 22 Minutes during its four most successful seasons, winning three Gemini Awards and three Canadian Comedy Awards. His original works have received numerous accolades, including nominations for WGC Screenwriting Awards, Leo Awards and the prestigious Japan Prize. Edward has created more than 100 hours of television in both the kids' and prime-time spaces for broadcasters including CBC, Teletoon, Disney XD, Cartoon Network, TVO Kids, Discovery Kids, Comedy Network, France Télévisions, CBeebies and ABC Australia.
