Greening the Screen: Producer Sustainability Workshops
April 11, 2025
Are you a mid-to-senior level producer or production executive in British Columbia? Do you want to reduce carbon pollution and make your productions cleaner, greener, and less wasteful?
Zero Emissions Innovation Centre in partnership with Producing for the Planet is pleased to announce the call for applications for a new workshop series built just for content producers working in scripted, factual and animation genres. The “Greening the Screen: Producer Sustainability Workshop” will empower you with the tools and knowledge you need to integrate sustainability into your existing planning and production processes by addressing the critical soft-prep and pre-production phases where the foundation for sustainability is laid.
Through this workshop, you will learn about:
- Setting sustainable project assumptions
- Strategies for creating a sustainable production and company culture
- The sustainability team and how to build one
- How creative considerations impact pollution and waste
- Strategies for sustainability planning in the critical soft-prep and pre-production phases
- Supply chain management for eco-friendly production
- Carbon footprints and sustainability reporting requirements in the Canadian and global marketplace
- Strategies for reducing carbon emissions and setting targets.
Workshops will be limited to ten qualifying participants per workshop, so register early to secure your spot.
The workshops will be held in-person. To qualify for a spot, participants must have a minimum of one produced project in the last two years in their chosen genres. Participants will be asked to bring a budget, script and schedule from a project of their choice to the workshop to use as a case study.
This program is an initiative of the Zero Emissions Innovation Centre in partnership with Producing for the Planet, and the Canada Media Fund, Creative BC, the Canada Media Producers Association – BC Producers Branch, and the Bell Fund.
