Canadian Creative Accelerator (CCA) – 2023

Canadian Creative Accelerator (CCA) – 2023

Deadline: July 3, 2023

The Canadian Creative Accelerator is organized by the Trade Commissioner Service (TCS) at the Consulate General of Canada in Los Angeles.

The 2023 hybrid program will kick off in September 2023 with virtual programming – including curated workshops, in person meetings, and 1:1 mentorship across 3 months. The program will include two virtual weeks and two in-person weeks in Los Angeles.

This year’s program will focus on production companies with scripted-live action comedy television programs that have an attached Canadian broadcasting partner. Applicants should be established Canadian production companies with a varied slate of projects in the scripted format. A current project will be the main reference for selection. A jury of LA based industry professionals will select 5 companies who’s lead project has the most likelihood for success in the US market.

The lead project needs to be a comedy based program. To be considered for this year’s cohort, your company needs to:

– Be domiciled in Canada
– Have previously produced television series for Canadian or international broadcaster
– Have a show that has been greenlight or pre-development funding
– Be able to commit an executive to participate in up to 8hrs of meetings for two weeks of virtual programming from in September and October 2023, as well as two weeks of in-market, in-person program in the US in November and December 2023.

Throughout this three month period, participants will have a unique opportunity to gain access to influential television producers, financiers, distributors and management companies in the US. Participants will take part in conversations with industry experts, networking events and one-on-one meetings. Only those who can commit to the full scope of the program should apply. All programming for this upcoming cohort will be in English.

Applications will be open until July 3, 2023 and the cohort will be announced by August 4th.
