Are you the next winner of the coveted Golden Egg Award at the Reykjavík International Film Festival?

Prospective filmmakers can now apply for the Reykjavík International Film Festival’s Transatlantic Talent Lab, a wholly unique educational experience taking place over four days this fall in one of the world’s most truly spectacular settings. The Talent Lab will be running from 3rd to 7th of October 2023.

Filmmakers from all aspects of the industry – directors, producers, screenwriters etc. – who are working on their first feature film can apply in order to create networks within the international film environment.

The talent lab is aimed prospective filmmakers that want to share their ideas with like-minded individuals in Reykjavik during RIFF, the city’s International Film Festival. There they can make first-hand contact with a wide array film of already successful producers and other professionals for help and consultation on their first feature film. A plethora of well-known names have already participated in the Talent Lab in recent years, for example: Darren Aronofsky, David Lynch, Lone Scherfig. Dario Argento, Béla Tarr, Laila Pakalnina, Rossy de Palma, Deepa Mehta, Giorgos Lanthimos, Rúnar Rúnarsson, Hilmar Oddson, Katja Adomeit, Olivier Assayas, Trine Dyrholm and Jonas Mekas and many more.

Reykjavík Talent Lab participants come from various backgrounds and all corners of the world; every year around 40 individuals are accepted to participate in the program. Participants can submit their short films to the Golden Egg competitive section, where the eponymous award is bestowed upon the most promising young filmmaker. The films selected for the Golden Egg section will be screened as part of the official festival program.
