WBD Access x Canadian Academy Writers Program
The WBD Access x Canadian Academy Writers Program is a professional development initiative focused on experienced Canadian writers from underrepresented communities. This program will support a maximum of 10 individuals seeking to advance their careers in episodic television through the development of a specific project, as well as mentorship and community-building opportunities, and access to invaluable industry knowledge from television executives and creators.
This program is a multi-year initiative supported by Warner Bros. Discovery and administered by the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television, in collaboration with Telefilm Canada.
This program is designed to support writers from underrepresented communities: Indigenous, Black, people of colour, people with disabilities, 2SLGBTQIA+, and Francophone members of the aforementioned communities. Applications and scripts can be submitted and developed in English or French, but the program sessions and communication are solely in English.

The WBD Access x Canadian Academy Directors Program is a talent roster initiative focused on experienced Canadian directors from underrepresented communities. This initiative is for those individuals who have been proactively taking steps in their career to direct episodic television series in any genre. The third year of the program will support a maximum of 10 individuals seeking to advance their careers in episodic television through on-set placement. The program will provide participants with mentorship and community-building opportunities, and access to invaluable industry knowledge from television executives and creators.

This program is designed to support directors from underrepresented communities: Indigenous, Black, people of colour, people with disabilities, 2SLGBTQIA+ and Francophone members of the aforementioned communities. Applications can be submitted and developed in English or French, but the program sessions and communication are solely in English. Placements will be made in English-dominant environments.
