Telefilm Canada and its partners are currently accepting registrations from Canadian companies working in the animation sector companies planning to attend MIFA 2025.

Canada will be the featured country at the upcoming Locarno Film Festival. For its 14th edition, the First Look initiative organized by the industry component of the Locarno Film Festival will focus on Canadian cinema, thanks to a partnership with Telefilm Canada.

From April to June 2025, the selected Canadian producers will embark in two months of personalized mentorship and training (with a focus on international co-production and distribution – as well as pitching) in order to get ready to pitch their project to their future international partners.

The Production Program provides financial support to B.C.-based independent creators in the production of commercially ready and market-viable longer-form motion picture projects that reflect and enhance the cultural diversity of the province.

Wscripted has opened applications for its 5th Cannes Screenplay List, presented by MUBI. The list highlights outstanding scripts by women and non-binary filmmakers at the Cannes Film Market, with the mission to boost funding and deal opportunities for nominated projects.

Telefilm Canada, in partnership with the Cannes Film Market, is offering 2 emerging Canadian producers the opportunity to attend the impACT Lab, organized by Cannes Film Market as part of its 2025 edition. 

Hot Docs will assemble a delegation of ten early-career or mid-career documentary Canadian producers from equity-deserving groups. Producers will be required to attend either Sunny Side of the Doc (June 2025) or Camden International Film Festival (September 2025). All producers will be required to attend Hot Docs 2026. 

The Executive Residency Program is a Canadian Academy initiative dedicated to providing industry access for mid-career professionals who identify as Black, Indigenous, or persons of colour, in order to influence a change in the next generation of executives and decision makers.

The Equity and Emerging Development Program aims to provide direct and targeted support to emerging and/or equity seeking B.C. filmmakers. Creators can receive a grant of up to $10,000 to cover the cost of bringing together a development team to do research, develop a concept or write a script.

The ACE Leadership Special is aimed at experienced producers looking to develop their personal leadership and entrepreneurial skills and to establish sound business foundations for their companies. The workshop is made possible thanks to support from Creative Europe MEDIA, the Netherlands Film Fund, FOCAL and the Film Commission Lucerne and Central Switzerland.
