Mark is Chairman of boutique strategy advisory company Oliver & Ohlbaum Associates (O&O). He was the BBC’s first Head of Strategy and its youngest ever member of senior management. After leaving the BBC in 1995, he set up O&O, which advises major companies, investors, regulators, sports bodies and governments across the global media, entertainment and sports sectors.
Clients past and present include the English Premier League, UEFA, Liberty Global, Sky, BT, Google, Spotify, Discovery, NBCUniversal, Creative Artists Agency, the Music Publishers Association, KKR, Providence, CVC, beIN, RTL, ProsiebenSat.1, AMC Networks, Endemol Shine Group, Disney, Fox. Mark has taken a leading role in introducing innovative new approaches and business models to a number of sectors – sports rights exploitation, multichannel TV, web news, independent TV production, sports ownership, high end scripted content funding, addressable advertising, music streaming, SVoD and more.
Before joining the BBC, Mark worked as a regulatory and antitrust economist at NERA and then PwC. He has a BA in philosophy, politics and economics from Oxford University and lives in Somerset and London in the UK.
