CHRIS KENOPIC

Community Leader & Actor

Chris is Deaf since birth and has been an active leader in the Deaf community for over 35 years. He attended Deaf school in Belleville, Ontario then graduated from Gallaudet University in ‘93 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications.

He married his high school sweetheart Laureen Baskerville in ‘93 and together they have 4 children, one child being deaf. Both parents advocated for access in community recreational programs for their Deaf son who also attended the Deaf school in Milton, Ontario and graduated in 2021.

Chris has served on many organizations over the years in his roles as CEO and volunteered in many roles as President and served on governance.

Chris started his acting on the Hershey Commercial, “Dad’s Joke” with his son Braden in 2019, then a small role on the Willa movie (2019) before starting his role as the Clint character for the Ginny and Georgia show.

Thanks to Chris’s wife Laureen who encouraged him to audition for the GG show. Unfortunately Laureen was not able to view the first season as she died from her struggles with depression and anxiety.

Chris is now retired and moved to Renfrew, his home town in Renfrew, Ontario and while he still mourns for his best friend/partner Laureen, he is grateful to have a grandson Cooper born in June 2021.

Chris’s focus now is to continue his role in acting and to advocate for better access and programs for mental health support for those struggling with depression and anxiety.
