OTTAWA, JUNE 1, 2023 — The Canadian Media Producers Association today issued the following statement on behalf of its President and CEO, Reynolds Mastin, congratulating Catherine Tait on the renewal of her appointment as President and CEO of CBC/Radio-Canada:

Following years of anticipation, months of consultation and debate, and the longest ever study conducted by a Senate committee, Bill C-11 (the Online Streaming Act) has passed the Houses of Parliament and will receive Royal Assent.

OTTAWA, MARCH 8, 2023 —The Canadian Media Producers Association (CMPA) today commended the Minister of Canadian Heritage, Pablo Rodriquez, for his support of key Senate amendments to Bill C-11 that recognize the vital role independent producers play in Canada’s broadcasting system and ensure that they can significantly and equitably control and benefit from their own stories.

OTTAWA, FEBRUARY 3, 2023 — Yesterday Bill C-11 passed third reading in the Senate. We have long called for the government to modernize Canada’s outdated broadcasting legislation, and this takes us one step closer to that goal.
