Independent producers and Canadian screenwriters reach agreement
TORONTO, January 23, 2015—The Canadian Media Production Association (CMPA) and the Association Québecoise de la Production Médiatique (AQPM) have reached an agreement in principle with the Writers Guild of Canada (WGC) on a new 2015-2017 Independent Production Agreement (IPA).
CMPA Chief Negotiator and Chief Legal Officer Reynolds Mastin says, “This was a tough negotiation but we are happy we were able to reach a deal that recognizes the needs of Canadian producers, yet fairly compensates WGC screenwriters across the country.”
Details of the agreement will be released to the public once the agreement is ratified.
