CMPA statement on the passing of François Macerola
TORONTO, November 9, 2018 – It is with great sadness that we learn of the passing of François Macerola – a longstanding cultural sector leader and passionate advocate for the Canadian creative industries.
At each stage of his 40-year career, François left his indelible mark in helping to build the Canadian audiovisual sector, and to promote and celebrate its successes both at home and around the world. Starting from his time at the National Film Board in the 1970s, through to his terms at the helm of Telefilm Canada and SODEC, François was a consensus-builder, a visionary, a keen strategist, and always a gentleman with a great sense of humour. He will be missed.
We offer our most sincere condolences to his wife and children, and all who were close to him.
