OTTAWA, JUNE 1, 2023 — The Canadian Media Producers Association today issued the following statement on behalf of its President and CEO, Reynolds Mastin, congratulating Catherine Tait on the renewal of her appointment as President and CEO of CBC/Radio-Canada:

“We thank the government for its sound decision in extending Catherine Tait’s term as President and CEO of CBC/Radio-Canada. Catherine’s breadth of expertise and deep knowledge of the sector began with firsthand experience as an independent producer in Canada’s vibrant domestic production industry. She has since served as a fearless leader and a vocal champion of Canadian stories. She truly values the importance of independent production and works to ensure that Canadian programming reflects the diverse perspectives and experiences of Canadians from coast to coast to coast.

As the country’s most significant commissioner of Canadian content, the CBC will continue to play an important role under Catherine’s leadership, partnering with independent producers to provide compelling content to Canadians and audiences around the world. We congratulate Catherine on this well-deserved renewal of her mandate.”
