OTTAWA, April 21, 2022 — Today, the CMPA released the following statement in response to the Telefilm Canada announcement that Christa Dickenson will be stepping down as Executive Director & CEO in September:

“Christa Dickenson led Telefilm Canada with a steady hand and strong vision during a period of unprecedented upheaval for Canada’s screen-based production sector.

A tireless advocate for Canadian creators, Christa modernized Telefilm’s programs, launched an important review of internal decision-making processes within the organization, and took important steps to ensure greater access to funding for individuals from equity-seeking communities.

Christa also played an instrumental role in implementing the Short-Term Compensation Fund, which was a lifeline for Canada’s independent producers during the pandemic.

On behalf of Canada’s independent feature film producers, we thank you, Christa, for your determined leadership and wish you all the best on your next professional endeavor.”

– Reynolds Mastin, President and CEO, CMPA
