A Toronto based company founded by Chris Agoston, The Screen Asylum's work has spanned across feature film, television series, and digital series. THE LOCKPICKER, Writer-Director Randall Okita’s first feature, won the inaugural John Dunning Discovery Award. CAST NO SHADOW, Director Christian Sparkes’ first feature, was nominated for 4 Canadian Screen Awards including Best Picture, launched theatrically in 3 cites across Canada, and held over for 7 weeks. Their most recent feature HAMMER, starring Will Patton & Mark O’Brien, was released internationally, receiving strong critical acclaim from sources like Variety, The Hollywood Reporter, RogerEbert.com, and The Globe & Mail.
On the series front, under The Screen Asylum banner Agoston produced and directed THE PLATEAUS in partnership with CBC, Toyota, and the Independent Production Fund. Featuring lead and guest appearances by Annie Murphy, Jay Baruchel, Elisha Cuthbert, and several prominent members of the Canadian music industry, the dark comedy series launched simultaneously as a 10 part digital series and a 2 x 1 hour primetime broadcast special. Agoston has also directed 2nd unit television for PEOPLE OF EARTH (Warner Horizon/TBS), SEX/LIFE (Netflix), CLARICE (MGM/CBS), and GOOD SAM (CBS), as well as a wide array of short film works. Agoston recently acted as the Line Producer on GOOD SAM, a one hour medical drama for CBS, and will soon Line Produce ALEX CROSS for Amazon.
