About us
Coyle Digital was created by Barb Taylor in 2016 to create independent queer animation. An animated feature film Queen Maeve is in development with Ontario Creates and Canadian Media Fund support which leverages Barb’s Canadian – Irish citizenship. A stand-alone project based on the memoir How to Get a Girl Pregnant is in development with Canadian Media Fund support.
The team has created a number of award winning short animated films. The Butch and the Baby Daddy, a collaboration with author Karleen Pendleton Jiménez, shares the story of a trans butch lesbian seeking to have a baby. It’s the recipient of the Best Original Story (Fishnets LGBTQ Film Festival), Best Intl Animation award (Latinx Film Market New York) and Best of Fest (Safflicks) and is currently streaming on CBC Gem. Previous to that Barb created a hand painted animated short Bobbi and Sheelagh about a lesbian who meets a mythological creature. Barb’s film Tomboy exploring a child’s gender expression was the recipient of the CBC Canadian Reflection Award and Inside Out Up and Coming Artist Award among others.
Barb is also an experienced digital content creator, the recipient of a Webby Honoree and the Corus Innovation Award for impact. Barb has previously worked in digital management for entertainment companies CBC and Corus Entertainment.
