Producer Elizabeth Yake's films have been nominated for 19 CSA/Genie Awards (Canadian Oscars). All of her fiction shorts and features have premiered at the prestigious Toronto International Film Festival.
Founded on the west coast, now based in Eastern Ontario, her company True West Films focuses on producing international co-productions, both dramatic and documentary, for the world market, including such as award-winning films and TV series such as EVERYTHING’S GONE GREEN (BC/ON) and MISS TEXAS (CAN/GER), and the indie cult favourite, Yake’s most successful film to date, IT’S ALL GONE PETE TONG (CAN/UK) named in the Top Ten Films of the Decade (2000-2010) by Playback magazine.
On the documentary front, Elizabeth exclusively produces director-driven POV films with a cultural perspective, such as JEFF WALL: IN ORDER TO MAKE A PICTURE, ROLL OVER BEETHOVEN, BP (PUSHING THE BOUNDARIES) and the French language film MÉMOiRE MOIRE DES SOUVENIRS.
Her latest film is the award-winning international coproduction HADWIN'S JUDGEMENT (CAN/UK) shot on location in Haida Gwaii, made with the producers of the Oscar-winning film SEARCHING FOR SUGAR MAN.
Elizabeth trained as a director (B.A.A) at Ryerson University, as a producer at the Canadian Film Centre and most recently completed her Masters (with Distinction) in Screenwriting and Playwriting at Regent's University, London UK. She has a B.A. in Economics/Philosophy.
She is currently producing THE DROP a 4 EP comedy satire.
