About us

Alley Originals is led by director Marisa Emma Smith and co-producer Daniel Arnold. Marisa recently produced the short film cuzlhkán kalāxsa nqwal̛úttena (I am going to remember my language) by Lil’wat writer/performer Yvonne Wallace, and Daniel has previously produced the NSI Drama Prize winning short film The Janitors and the feature film Lawrence & Holloman, which won over a dozen awards at festivals including the Canadian Comedy Award - “Best Feature Film”.

Alley Originals is the incorporated off-shoot of Marisa and Daniel’s non-profit society, Alley Theatre.

Alley Originals is currently set to release the interactive audio play INHERITANCE, based on the Governor General’s Award nominated stage play which they developed and produced through Alley Theatre. The audio-version will be distributed by Penguin Random House Audio. They previously produced the interactive website www.mrswarrens.ca, which hosted six mini-documentaries.

Alley is also currently co-producing the feature film version of INHERITANCE. The project has been supported by the Canada Council, Vancouver Foundation, Indigenous Screen Office, Creative BC and BC Arts Council, the City of Vancouver, and Telefilm Canada.
