Project Undertow Inc

About us

Project Undertow acknowledges that the land we stand on and draw inspiration from is Indigenous land. Tkaronto ‘where the trees meet the water’, the Indigenous name of our city, is the ancestral land of many nations including the Huron Wendat, the Haudenosaunee, and the Anishinaabe and the Mississaugas of the New Credit. We strive, in our work, to both honour the history of this land and to reflect the new inhabitants of Turtle Island from all over the globe.
Cultivating the artist’s unique voice is at the heart of what we do. Artists are given license to explore and imagine all that could be possible as they develop and produce original works. We encourage collaborations, co-productions, and all opportunities that foster the individual artist’s growth and the marketability of their product.

We know art has the power to change perceptions and open hearts when created in a safe space. As such, and to honour the diversity of our company of artists, we have zero tolerance for discrimination of any kind and continue to strive to be anti-racist and anti-colonial.

Founded in 2005, Project Undertow began as a professional development collective dedicated to artists gaining ownership of craft, cultivating original voice and nourishing creative autonomy. With a history of award-winning theatre production, we incorporated in 2020 to create the web series Nesting, commissioned by Crave.
