Reelworld Film Festival - 2020
Oct 14, 2020 – Oct 19, 2020
The Reelworld Film Festival exclusively showcases Canadian artists, filmmakers and creators who identify as Black, Indigenous, Asian, South Asian, Middle Eastern and Latinx. We present narrative features, comedies, documentaries, shorts, music videos, animation, episodic content, and VR/360. The 2020 edition will be virtual.
Reelworld Film Festival exists to serve the Canadian artistic community, seek out and showcase emerging talent and excellence in underrepresented Canadians, and give audiences the chance to participate in community engaged media art experiences that truly represent the richness of Canadian diversity.
In addition to showcasing artists’ work, Reelworld boasts a longstanding tradition of recognizing and spotlighting Canadian artists. Reelworld is a competitive film festival with a jury of industry professionals who recognize excellence in Canadian film. Each year, we also present 6 Trailblazer Awards to rising media-artists and filmmakers and the Visionary award for lifetime work in equity to one outstanding person.
Alongside the festival Reelworld runs popular and free of charge industry panels. These panels feature Black, Indigenous, Asian, South Asian, Middle Eastern, and Latinx content creators and experts – highlighting their success and talent, and creating opportunities for shared learning among diverse artists.
