Breakfast at TIFF: Music Video Evolution

Nov 02, 2018

Toronto, ON

From MTV in the ’80s to the rise of YouTube and Vevo throughout the noughties to today’s social media landscape, the music video format has continued to thrive despite evolving technology, culture, and viewing habits. What hasn’t changed over the years, however, is its importance as a showcase for creative talent and its ability to launch the careers of artists and filmmakers, including Michel Gondry (Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind), Spike Jonze (Being John Malkovich), Floria Sigismondi (The Runaways), Sam Taylor-Johnson (Nowhere Boy), and Kevan Funk (Hello Destroyer).

This session of Breakfast at TIFF coincides with the launch of the Music Video Production Project (MVP Project), a new fund from RBC and the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television. Join us to discover more about the music video production industry in Canada, as well as this new, exciting initiative and the opportunities it presents for emerging creators.

The first round of applications for the MVP Project is now under way, with the second taking round place in January. Click here for more details.
