Overview

The Canadian Media Producers Association (CMPA) welcomes enquiries from our members, the media, industry partners and the public. CMPA staff is available to comment or answer questions about the independent production sector on issues ranging from business and regulatory affairs to government and industrial relations.

Every winter the CMPA hosts a high-profile national conference, Prime Time in Ottawa. For three action-packed-days, producers, stakeholders, funders and policy makers unite under one roof. Speeches, panels and networking opportunities provide delegates the opportunity to debate and better understand the future of Canadian screen-based content production.

The CMPA regularly communicates with the media:

  • Our media kit contains up-to-date information about the industry as well as other valuable background materials.
  • Current and archived news releases are available on our website. If you wish to sign up for our media email list, please click here.
  • You can follow the CMPA on any or all of our three Twitter feeds (@The_CMPA | @CMPAMentorship), or on Facebook for regular updates on our latest news. We also post interesting videos on our YouTube channel.

The CMPA also produces several online publications that are available to members only:

  • The Daily News Flash is emailed to members from Monday to Friday each week. It contains CMPA and member news, industry articles, executive moves, and notices of benefits and offers for members.
  • Member Matters is a biweekly digest of New Members, Member Discounts, Events, Call for Submissions, Opportunities for Members, and Executive Moves
  • Notes to Members are emailed two to six times each month in order to outline important milestones, policy initiatives and announcements.

Each year the CMPA also publishes Profile. It is a comprehensive financial report on Canadian production, foreign location, service production and broadcaster in-house production. Profile is recognized as a leading source of information on the Canadian production industry.

Throughout the year, CMPA staff stay connected with their colleagues in the industry by participating on panels and speaking at conferences across the country.

The CMPA welcomes the opportunity to connect with you.  If you want to find out more, please contact us.
