CMPA reveals nominees for the 2017 CMPA Indiescreen Awards

TORONTO, August 23, 2017—

The Canadian Media Producers Association (CMPA) today announced the nominees for 2017 Indiescreen Awards. The winners will be announced at the CMPA Indiescreen Awards Reception in Toronto on September 7. The event marks the opening of the TIFF Industry Conference at the 42nd annual Toronto International Film Festival.

“The incredible talent showcased by our nominees is a testament to how rich our country is with creative talent,” said Reynolds Mastin, president and CEO, Canadian Media Producers Association. “At this decisive moment for homegrown content, it’s an honour to recognize the trailblazing veterans of our industry and the innovative new faces who are pushing its boundaries.”

The nominees in the Established Producer category were selected for their full body of work, and represent the best of Canada’s contribution to global cinema.  Nominees in the Emerging Producer category were chosen for the immense potential demonstrated during their relatively short careers.

The recently renamed Indiescreen Awards – formerly the CMPA Feature Film Producer Awards – have recognized excellence among Canada’s independent feature film producers for the past 12 years. This is the second year both an emerging and an established producer will be recognized in their respective categories.
