Building Sustainable Companies to Attract Private Investment


A workshop led by advisor Anne Marie Maduri (Maduri + Associates) designed for professionals in film, television and interactive media who are seeking business and management training. This session will demonstrate for participants a strategic approach in building a sustainable business model, which allows for growth and private investment. The approach, applicable to the participants’ sectors, will include assessing the emerging growth opportunities.

Intensive two day workshop for up to 15 CMPA member companies.  Session will be held during business hours on Monday January 27 and Tuesday January 28, 2014 at the CMPA-BC office.  Following the workshop, participants will have a bank of “mentoring” time with the facilitator to work on applying information to their specific business needs.


Key Areas of Focus for Participants:
  • Developing the framework to analyze a company’s business model to show its profit potential
  • Demonstrating the key elements in building a value maximizing revenue model
  • Outlining the approach to complement project with company financing to support sustainability
  • Positioning a company to access a variety of financing options


Course Objectives:
  •  Assist in developing businesses into sustainable and growing enterprises attractive to private investment.


Course Content:
  • Outlining the key components of a sustainable business model, from an investor’s perspective.
  • Demonstrating financing strategies appropriate to a company’s growth path and objectives.



This workshop is designed for experienced media professionals who are owners/managers of a film, television or interactive media company.  Due to limited space, only one representative per company is eligible to participate in the workshop.  The workshop is open to CMPA members only.

At minimum, applicant companies must have at least two production credits in the following:

  • Television drama series, MOW, Mini-series
  • Theatrical feature film
  • Broadcast documentary
  • Broadcast animation
  • Interactive content


There is a $200.00 + GST registration fee for this workshop, payable upon acceptance.



Application are only accepted though our online portal and must include the following:

  • List of produced projects including year and type of production (minimum of two) and those in development;
  • Statement from applicant outlining the company’s business objectives and reason for wanting to attend the workshop; and

Applications will be reviewed by a selection committee comprised of the facilitator and a representative from the CMPA.

Facilitator Bio

Anne Marie provides financial advisory services to assist digital media and entertainment companies to build sustainable, value maximizing models for growth and to secure investment. Since 1998 she has worked with numerous investment banks, and as an independent advisor and agent. Her experience is in equity analysis and investment banking focused on the digital media sector and its components including software, hardware, entertainment and telecom companies.
