Collection of personal information

In your dealings with the CMPA, you may be asked to provide us with personal information about yourself, for example, when applying for or renewing your membership, subscribing to our newsletter or when you authorize us to collect such information from another source.

Like most other organizations, we may monitor traffic patterns, site usage and related site information. Our website server will automatically collect IP addresses, and we may use a browser feature called a “cookie” to optimize your visit to our website. You may set your browser to turn cookies off during your use of any website and, in any event, when you close your browser the cookie is deleted. We do not link your IP address or cookies to other personally identifiable information.

Only designated employees and service providers of the CMPA have access to your personal information for these purposes.

We will provide your personal information to third parties where it is required for tax reporting and other legal and regulatory purposes that may arise. Your name, productions and status as a member of the CMPA will be disclosed to users of our website and to the public upon request.

We will not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to any third party without your prior consent other than in the case of the sale of some or all of our assets as a going concern. However, the CMPA may use and disclose aggregated information, which may include some of your personal information, provided that such aggregated information does not or cannot be used to identify you or any other specific individual.

We use the information collected from website usage to help diagnose problems with our server and for systems administration purposes. We may also use session ID cookies to track usage patterns and deliver customized content to users. Your IP address may be used in an aggregate manner to gather broad demographic information so that we may improve the site to better suit users’ needs.

Security and retention of your personal information

The CMPA retains your personal information only as long as it is required for the reasons it was collected. We use all reasonable commercial efforts, including implementing security measures on our website and in our offices, to protect your personal information from loss, unauthorized use, access, alteration or disclosure of the personal information under our control.

If you withdraw consent, you agree that notwithstanding such withdrawal, we may continue to use any personal information previously provided to us to the extent required to enforce any contractual obligations that you may still have to the CMPA.

You also understand that the CMPA will require personal information about you for some services, including those that require payment or involve an ongoing relationship with the CMPA or our partners. If you refuse to provide us with the personal information that we require or later withdraw your consent to use and disclose such information, we may no longer be able to provide you with these services.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

The CMPA may need to update this Privacy Policy in order to enable us to collect, use and disclose personal information as may be required to better serve you or to reflect changes to privacy legislation. We encourage you to periodically review our Privacy Policy so that you are properly informed as to how the CMPA is protecting and dealing with your personal information.
